Georgia O'Keefe

I picked up a biography of Georgia O'Keefe the other week. Other than being able to recognize her work, I know nothing of O'Keefe's life, influences or her thoughts on her work. I decided that taking a peek into this artist's life might be a good idea.
I am curious to know what other artists think of her and if their work has been influenced by hers in any way. And if you don't consider yourself an artist, I'd love to know as well. Leave a comment or two.

I've never been a big fan of O'Keefe's work, but it is always interesting to read about an artists life and how they achieved success.
Here's a secret: I made a painting as a direct commentary on O'Keeffe (note spelling). Of all of my paintings, it's probably my favorite, or close to it. And it's my first oil painting.
I made Painted Lady to say to O'Keeffe: Why use stand-ins for human genitalia?
Used to admire her solitary pursuit of her art. Then started to wonder how solitary it was. Had the chance to meet her assistant/companion Juan Hamilton in Dallas about a dozen years ago at a show he did of his large pottery works. After that, thought more like "Awright, Georgia...you go girl!"
I think he must have been a young Steiglitz for her in her later years... promoting her work, etc.
hey art girl,
plan on showing any of your work?
I saw one and it was interesting. I could check out your archives. not an okeefe fan but recently began looking into the surrealists and metaphysical painters... doing some fun appropriation. i just started a blog only 1 day ago so not much to see there. keep it going!
