Marcel Duchamp's readymades
Because I've been thinking a lot about the Dada show at the National Gallery, I've decided to post this, one of Marcel Duchamp's readymades. I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions on this piece and the idea of the readymades.
They don't even have to have words or sentences painted on them. Duchamp's shovel for example is just a shovel purchased at any hardware store. He is challenging the idea of what art is. For example, your work telephone, untouched, could be considered a readymade.

First let me ask if I understand readymades. They're ordinary objects that have words or sentences painted on them?
