name dropping
Do we decide whether or not we like a piece of art based on the artist's name? Our familiarity with the artist's name? Our familiarity with the artist's work?
absolutely, it affects the way we recieve what we see. there's been many a time that i thought i liked a certain work because it was a "whoever" - which made it great art and then eventually would admit to myself that that particular work wasn't all that good. yes, in geneal we're all influenced . . .
i agree. or the other way around. i have liked something but didn't feel as though i should. because maybe it didn't meet the expectations i had planted in my head.
